There is no place more quintessentially New England than Martha’s Vineyard. Janie & Troy honored the island’s beachy Massachusetts spirit with their nuptials, full of personal touches.

I first met J&T in their home state of Colorado where we explored the rocky crevices of Garden of the Gods at their engagement shoot. So by the time their October wedding day came around, I knew I wanted to capture all of the details that made this couple unique.

Their blue-and-white theme was perfect for Martha’s Vineyard. Every element, from Janie’s cobalt satin heels to Troy’s navy suit, from their aqua embroidered guest book to the vintage sea foam convertible for fun photo-ops, made the perfect Somethings Blue.

Name cards made of Martha’s Vineyard vehicle permits, wicker chargers, sea glass, lobster rolls and a raw oyster bar made for a New England celebration that would impress even Martha Stewart herself.

But J&T didn’t forget to bring a bit of home with them. Troy and his groomsmen immortalized the couple’s Golden Retriever Otis with their dress socks, while their place settings were a nod to J&T’s love of the ski slopes.

As golden hour approached for couples portraits, I enticed the newlyweds to head down to the beach after the ceremony. The wedding location faced the western edge of the island, where the sun sits over the ocean and gives off some major Malibu vibes.

We were running around in the sand and salty air when, out of nowhere, a wave came up and completely soaked the couple. J&T were great sports about it, though, and rushed to blow-dry Troy’s shoes and Janie’s wedding gown before their official entrance as husband and wife.

After dessert and cocktails, toasts and dancing, it was time for J&T to head out. I found some leftover sparklers in my truni and gave them to the bridesmaids for an especially dazzling exit!
